Description

IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 through 1.9.3 allows an attacker to read every secret available to the Langflow process, read and modify every flow, conversation, message, file upload, and saved component in the Langflow database, can connect to internal services, abuse cloud metadata endpoints, laterally move to other tenants on the same Langflow instance, and Establish persistence by modifying the public flow's tool_code so normal /api/v1/build/... calls by any user re-execute attacker code at each build.

Description quoted from the NVD record.

Who is affected

Langflow (also called IBM Langflow OSS) is a tool for building apps that use AI language models. This flaw affects versions 1.0.0 through 1.9.3. An attacker could read every secret (such as passwords or keys) that Langflow can use. They could also read and change every workflow, conversation, message, uploaded file and saved building block in its database. They could reach internal services, misuse cloud server information services, and move into areas of other teams sharing the same Langflow installation. They could keep access by changing a public workflow so their own code runs each time any user builds it. This flaw is rated Critical.

What to do

  1. If someone at your organization installed or runs Langflow, that person should check which version is in use. Versions 1.0.0 through 1.9.3 are affected.
  2. No fixed version is named for this flaw yet, so check the vendor advisory linked on this page for a fixed release and install it as soon as one is available.
  3. If an IT provider or vendor runs Langflow for your organization, send them this advisory and ask when the update will be done.
