Description
IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 through 1.10.0 allows unauthenticated attackers to create unlimited user accounts on any Langflow instance; when NEW_USER_IS_ACTIVE=true (documented deployment option), newly created accounts are immediately active and can authenticate to reach RCE endpoints, bypassing the need for AUTO_LOGIN.
Description quoted from the NVD record.
Who is affected
Langflow (also called IBM Langflow OSS) is a tool for building apps that use AI language models. This flaw affects versions 1.0.0 through 1.10.0. Anyone who can reach your Langflow installation can create as many user accounts as they like without logging in. Some installations are set up so that new accounts become active right away, which is a documented setup option. On those installations, the new accounts can sign in at once. They can then reach parts of Langflow that let them run their own commands on the computer running it. This flaw is rated Critical.
What to do
- If someone in your organization installed or runs Langflow, ask them to check which version you use and whether new accounts are set to become active right away. Versions 1.0.0 through 1.10.0 are affected.
- No fixed version is named for this flaw yet. Check the vendor advisory linked on this page for a fixed release, and install it as soon as one is available.
- If an IT provider or vendor runs Langflow for your organization, send them this advisory and ask when the update will be done.
