Description

IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 through 1.10.0 contain a critical remote code execution vulnerability in the disk-based caching mechanism. The AsyncDiskCache class uses Python's unsafe pickle.loads() function to deserialize cached objects from disk without validation, integrity verification, or authentication, enabling arbitrary code execution when malicious pickle payloads are processed. Attackers who can influence cached data through file system access, malicious workflow inputs, custom components, or API manipulation can achieve complete system compromise with the privileges of the Langflow server process.

Description quoted from the NVD record.

Who is affected

Langflow (also called IBM Langflow OSS) is a tool for building apps that use AI language models. This flaw affects versions 1.0.0 through 1.10.0. It is in the part of the product that saves temporary copies of data on disk, which trusts that saved data without checking it. Someone who can tamper with that saved data could run any commands they choose and take full control of the system, with the same access Langflow itself has. Ways to tamper include access to the server's files, harmful workflow inputs, custom add-on components, or misuse of the product's programming interface. This flaw is rated Critical.

What to do

  1. If someone on your staff installed or runs Langflow, ask them to check which version your organization uses. Versions 1.0.0 through 1.10.0 are affected.
  2. No fixed version is named for this flaw yet, so have that person check the vendor advisory linked on this page for a fixed release and install it as soon as one is available.
  3. If an IT provider or vendor runs Langflow for your organization, send them this advisory and ask when the update will be done.
