Gamma Presentation maker

Gamma safety profile

Gamma is an AI presentation maker. Free and individual paid plans allow training on your content by default; Business and Enterprise do not.

Trains on your data by default
Depends on the plan. Gamma says content in Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra individual workspaces may be used to train its AI models by default, while Business and Enterprise workspaces are always excluded from training.
How to opt out
Individual users can opt out at any time: click your avatar or initials in the lower-left corner of the Gamma dashboard, select Settings, then open the Data Controls tab under Account settings. Business and Enterprise workspaces are excluded automatically, and that setting is locked.
Data retention
not documented
Admin controls

Certifications
Gamma's trust center lists SOC 2 Type II and offers a SOC 2 Type II Report (2025) and a Penetration Test (2026) on request.
Data region
Gamma is based in the U.S. and says personal information may be processed in the United States or other countries, and the pages checked describe no choice of region.
Free versus paid
Free and individual paid plans (Plus, Pro, Ultra) are treated the same, with training on by default and an opt-out available. Business and Enterprise workspaces are permanently excluded from training.

What it does with your data

What happens to the content staff type, paste or upload into Gamma depends on the kind of workspace they use. Gamma splits its plans into individual workspaces (Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra) and organization workspaces (Business, Enterprise and Teams).

In individual workspaces, Gamma’s help center says your content may be used to train its AI models by default. The privacy policy says the same thing more broadly. It says personal information, including content users create, may be used for research and development, and that this includes training Gamma’s AI models.

In organization workspaces, training is off. The help center calls the default for organizations “always off.” It says Business and Enterprise content is automatically excluded and will never be used to train Gamma’s models.

The pages we checked do not say how long Gamma keeps presentations, uploaded files or prompts. They also do not say whether people at Gamma review content. Treat both as unknown until Gamma confirms them in writing.

Settings to change first

If anyone at your organization uses an individual Gamma workspace (Free, Plus, Pro or Ultra), have them turn off training before they create anything. Gamma says users can opt out at any time:

  1. Click your avatar or initials in the lower-left corner of the Gamma dashboard.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Open the Data Controls tab (under Account settings) and opt out of AI training.

Ask each person to confirm they have done this on their own account.

If you use a Business or Enterprise workspace, you do not need to do anything. The exclusion from training is locked and cannot be changed.

Staff in the European Economic Area or the UK have one more option. Gamma’s privacy policy says these users can object to training by emailing Gamma’s privacy team.

The vendor pages checked do not describe any settings for retention or deletion.

Free and paid tiers

Gamma’s main dividing line is between individual and organization workspaces. Paying for an individual plan does not change it.

  • Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra: Gamma treats all four the same way. Training on your content is allowed by default, and each user can opt out.
  • Business and Enterprise (also called Team or Business workspaces): Content is automatically and permanently excluded from training.

There is one more difference. Gamma’s privacy policy does not cover information it processes on behalf of business customers. That information may be covered instead by Gamma’s agreements with those customers. If your organization signs up for a Business or Enterprise plan, ask for that agreement and read what it says about your data.

Admin controls

The vendor pages checked do not describe what an organization’s admin can control. They do not mention single sign-on, user management, data settings or which plans include them. If central control over staff accounts matters to you, ask Gamma for a written list before you choose a plan.

On security audits, Gamma’s trust center lists a SOC 2 Type II certification. Two documents are available on request:

  • A SOC 2 Type II Report (2025), which covers July 1 2025 to September 30 2025
  • A Penetration Test (2026)

You can request these to check how Gamma protects customer data.

Using it with donor and client data

If staff will build presentations that touch donor or client information, use a Business or Enterprise workspace. These are the only plans where Gamma says training is always off and cannot be switched on.

Whatever plan you use, set a clear rule about what never goes into Gamma:

  • Donor names together with gift amounts or giving history
  • Client case notes or anything that identifies people you serve
  • Health, payment or bank details

A board deck can usually make its point with totals and trends rather than named records.

Before staff use Gamma with donor data, get these points in writing from the vendor, because the pages checked do not cover them:

  • How long presentations, files and prompts are kept, and how deletion works
  • What admins can control on your plan
  • Whether you can choose where your data is stored (Gamma says data may be processed in the U.S. and other countries)

Questions people ask

Does Gamma train on what our staff put into it?

That depends on the workspace. On Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra plans, training is allowed by default unless each user opts out. On Business and Enterprise workspaces, content is never used for training.

Where is our data stored?

Gamma says it is based in the U.S. and that personal information may be processed in the United States or other countries. The pages checked do not say you can choose a region.

How long does Gamma keep our presentations?

The vendor pages checked do not say. Ask Gamma to confirm its retention and deletion terms in writing before anyone uploads sensitive material.
